Domestic United Airlines plane takes off over grounded international planes on the tarmac waiting for thousands of passengers to board at Los Angeles International airport. United Airlines has filed bankruptcy, the largest filing in aviation history. The airline giant is losing an estimated $8 million a day and is due to pay $1 billion debt this week which forced them to file for federal bankruptcy court protection after losing an estimated $4 billion in the last two years. United operates 1,700 flights a day, about 20 percent of all US flights.
